What to do if you are unhappy with the outcome
The Legal Ombudsman can help you if we are unable to resolve your complaint ourselves. Your complaint will be looked at independently and it will not affect our handling of your case. The Legal Ombudsman will first check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us before accepting a complaint for investigation.
Your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman must be reported within six months of receiving a final response to your complaint and
-No more than six years from the date of act/omission; or
-No more than three years from when you should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint.
For further information, please contact the Legal Ombudsman on 0300 555 0333 or visit www.legalombudsman.org.uk. The Legal Ombudsman may be contacted at PO Box 6167, Slough, SL1 0EH.
Solicitors Regulation Authority.
If you think a solicitor might be dishonest or you have concerns about their ethics or integrity, you also have the right to notify our regulator, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). There are no time limits for making a report but there are limits on what the SRA will consider. The SRA is not able to deal with issues of poor service and such complaints of this nature should instead be referred to the Legal Ombudsman.
